When I asked several people (from different aspects of my life) to describe me in three words, everyone included the same word: curious. I never really thought about it before, but it’s true, I am curious. I love to read about things to do, and then I do them. I take action. I’m curious — is it really the same as what I read, or different. How? Am I glad I did it. Would I do it again? What can I do next?
It’s easy to look back, then, and see that curiosity has been foundational in the various paths I’ve chosen and the new paths I continue to choose. I have been a student of metaphysics for almost forty years, trying on the various disciplines: past life regression, crystals, channeling, Reiki, astrology, meditation, continuing with those that interested me and setting the others aside (past life regression and channeling).
I’d always known I would have my own business, without any preconceived notions of what it would look like. I took some intense sales classes on my way to figuring it out. Ultimately, born out of a tiny ad I answered in a newspaper, I entered an industry I never even knew existed (the Gift Industry) and happily thrived there for twenty years. I started and ran my own manufacturers’ repping company for seventeen of those years. Eleven states. 23 employees. 60 product lines. $15,000,000 in gross annual sales.
When I “retired” to spend more time with my three (amazing) boys, I volunteered — for everything that interested me. A fortuitous meeting with an expert fundraiser led me back to school to study fundraising — a subject I knew absolutely nothing about. My new-found knowledge allowed me to combine it with my business background and create a corporate sponsorship program that I used successfully with several non-profits.
Up next, nutrition. Again, back to school to study dietary theories and the principles of coaching. I graduated from the Institute of Integrated Nutrition as a Certified Holistic Health Coach. That led me to my first corporate speech, writing my first book and doing my first TEDx talk.
I remain curious. Whether I’m talking about nutrition and cultivating simple, healthy lifestyle habits or the art of getting what you want, my favorite part is teaching and training, more specifically of having the luxury of working with someone one-on-one. It is one of my greatest joys when I get to witness someone’s profound AHA moment. Even better when I had (even a small) hand in bringing it about.
I live this way, and if you are so inspired, it will be my honor to guide you on your journey to an even better you. Personally. Professionally. Energetically.
You. Only Better.
