I’m a huge fan of Mother Mary – yes, THAT Mother Mary.
Many years ago, someone sent me a prayer directed to Mother Mary, and I’ve added it to my daily meditation ritual. Every morning before I meditate, I offer this prayer up to Mary for a specific person (or sometimes, persons). Mostly women, but not always. If someone I know is celebrating a birthday, she is the recipient, but it could also be the customer service person that helped me track my order or the cashier that checked me out. Sometimes, it’s even the person I see walking by my window at that exact moment. In other words, someone who fills my heart, if only temporarily.
I’m going to guess that most of us have, at some point or another, prayed for something, especially in a time of duress or stress or pain or sadness. My daily prayer, however, is a prayer of celebration for that specific person. Before I start, I picture the person (even if I have never met her) and begin. I customize the words according to what I think the person needs – or what I would like to see for her. It only takes a couple of minutes to say these words out loud.
Dear Mary, please help [special person] live her life to the fullest. Please promote her and cause her to excel above her wildest expectations. Please help her shine in the darkest places where it is impossible to love. Please protect her at all times, lift her up when she needs you the most, and please Mary, let her know that when she walks with you, she will always be safe. Thank you.
On occasion, I will send the recipient a copy of the prayer and let her know I offered it up for her, but mostly, I just do it privately.
Sometimes I wonder if she has any idea that someone is celebrating her with prayer. Can she feel it? If you believe that all prayers are heard (I do) and answered (I do) in perfect timing (I do), then this seemingly random prayer is a gift.
At our deepest level, isn’t that what each of us wants – to be seen? To matter? Celebrating someone with prayer is illuminating her in a beautiful light. Even if it’s only for a few minutes, it’s an opportunity for her to shine. At that very moment, with your words, she is seen. She does matter.
This is such a peaceful exercise. It’s the perfect way to prepare to meditate – by focusing loving thoughts on someone. Even if you don’t meditate – take a moment and think something kind about someone you know – or someone you just met. If you’re inspired, use my prayer. Adding this to your daily regimen – whether it’s first thing in the morning or the last thing before you go to sleep – will transform you. It will attract more kind and loving people into your life.
Think of what the world would be like if we each practiced this daily: just thinking one positive thought or offering a few words of prayer about someone in your life. I trust we could change the world.
Take a moment now and think something nice about someone you know. Please share your words below – it will inspire others to do the same.
P.S. Let’s get some momentum going – please forward this blog to two people you care about.

This resonates so much with my thinking …. am sometimes just overwhelmed by the smallest of acts by the unknown and a TRULY HEARTFELT prayer goes out for them.
I ALWAYS believe it is the thoughts and wishes of the universe which keep us going in our deepest darkest hours more than the ones from our known CONTACTS / WELL WISHERS

I think it’s when we quiet our minds and still our bodies that we can feel it the most. Be well!
