The last three blogs have focused on your SuperPowers – especially those everyone has but not everyone knows: like keeping your word (doing what you say you’re going to do) and making someone feel important. These are in everyone’s tool box – they just need to remember to take them out and actually use them.
But what’s something that makes you, YOU? My guess is it’s something you take for granted. You’ve lived it for so long and well, you’ve always been this way, you don’t even see it or recognize it as SUPER. But it is.
Call it a gift, if that makes you feel more comfortable.
What do you do that not everyone does? What is your unique SuperPower – your gift that improves the lives of everyone who receives it? Whether it’s a momentary smile or a life-changing shift, it all matters.
Maybe you’re that person that lights up the room by merely being present. Maybe you’re the rock that everyone relies on when life gets chaotic. Maybe you’re the go-to for information and great ideas because you seem to know everything that’s happening in the world. Maybe you’re the voice of reason.
I tend to forget about mine too since it usually happens after I meet someone new and we’re having our first (or second) conversation. The one where you find out more about each other. People tend to spill their guts to me. Our time together usually ends with them saying some version of “Wow, I’ve never told that to anyone before” or “I can’t believe I just told you that.”
I am truly honored and humbled every single time.
I love getting to know new people and the more I know, the better I am able to support them.
When I was little, I just thought that everyone was treated that way. It happened a lot when I was a business owner. And it even happened a few weeks ago when I was playing catch up with one of my friends. She started with “here’s something I’ve never told a living soul before.” I thanked her for sharing it with me.
Whatever it is, notice it. Embrace it. Be grateful for it and cultivate it. This SuperPower is like a muscle, the more you use it for good in this world, the stronger it will get and the more people will benefit. In turn they will be able to benefit others and it will ripple out from there. And isn’t that the way we change the world – one person at a time?
Have you figured out what your unique SuperPower is? How do you use it? I’d love to know below!
